Search Guide

If you would like to search our job database please go to the Job Listings page.

KEYWORD SEARCHES
The most common search technique is to simply type the words you wish to find into the search box. This type of search will result in all the pages which match either the entire phrase, or individual words.
Example: dual career resources

"OR" SEARCHES
In order to find pages which contain either one word or another or both, place an OR (must capitalize) between the two words.
Example: history OR american studies

"AND" SEARCHES
In order to find pages which only contain both words, place an AND (must capitalize) between the two words.
Example: art AND tenure

EXACT PHRASE SEARCHES
In order to find pages which contain a specific phrase, place quotes around the search.
Example: "German language and literature"

GENERAL TIPS
- Start by being as specific as possible
- If your initial search yields no, or few, results add more general terms
- Avoid using common words such as: the, and, in, etc.
- Searches can only be one type (General, OR, AND, Phrase)

WEIGHTED SEARCH RESULTS
We index all of the text in the description and also weight some fields more than others. Example:
- Position = 2 times value
- Company = 1.5 times value
- All other fields / data are normal
The search results are also ordered by newest job first.
